Firestation Open House...Every Two Year Old Boy's Dream Come True!

The Fire Department does an open house once a year (if it were up to me it should be every other week).  Last week I took Ross to it by myself while I was 7 months pregnant and he was in the run-away-from-you-the-second-you-let-me-loose phase of life.  He stayed in the stroller for a good portion of the time with the occasional moment of letting him get in a fire truck or tractor.  

This year when I told him we were going to see the firetrucks...he looked like his little body might explode with how excited he got.  And then when I told him he was going to get a ride in a firetruck he looked up at me like I was a genie granting his every wish.  I was the best person that ever existed - that's a good feeling folks.

We got ourselves ready and headed out.  We met up with our friends, the Horchs.  Wes was a little nervous to check out the big trucks by himself, but with our devoted truck fan, Ross, he could get anybody excited about a firetruck!

A Dream Come True!

He might have a few inches to grow maybe before joining the firefighter team.

He loved checking out the firetruck with all it's buttons and steering wheel, as well as the dump truck and police car.  When he got to go in the backhoe tractor he seemed to go into another world like he was actually driving the backhoe himself.  It was just about the best day of his life (apart from his Mater and McQueen birthday which he still brings up regularly - he also thinks everybody's birthday should have Mater or McQueen).

Then we went for a ride in the firetruck where he shouted "Weee-new!!  Weee-new!!"  over and over while waving to everyone outside.  Another great moment in his life. :)

Ruby was a champ and indulged in Ross's obsession - just chillin' in the stroller enjoying all the craziness around her.
