Trains and Zoos

So we are officially moving November 5th to our little corner of Colorado.  In the mean time we have been trying to get a fill in of conveniences here including trains and zoos. :)

Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle Thomas took the kiddos on Frontrunner while Steve and I went to check out a minivan (I know - I've had to work quite hard on Stephen to accept the idea of a minivan - I'm not sure if he felt like it challenged his we're-a-hip-cool-kind-of-family idea, but I finally convinced him that there were just way too many conveniences in a minivan for a young family like ours to pass up).  We decided on a 2011 Honda Odyssey EXL - and I am still ecstatic about it!

We picked up the group at the train station - Ross telling us all about it.  Ruby had been excited about the train for about 3 minutes and then was ready for bigger and better things while Ross enjoyed the entire trip. :)  They were both free riders so that was an even better perk!

Trains are awesome!

We got to the zoo and took another train ride - it was much shorter than the old one they used to have (jip), but it was still fun seeing they kids so excited.  Our friends, the Dille's happened to be up there the same time so we met up with them.

Trains are awesome round 2!

Ross letting me know we are actually on a train.

Steve's GQ face - have I mentioned my husband is the most gorgeous thing to walk the earth? :)

Our great friends, the Dille's.  Ross and Ruby adore Allypop - we've had fun playdates and lunches with her and Maren a lot!

The exhibits all looked great - we were sad to find out the bird shows were done for the year, but we still got to see the fun animals.  Ross's favorite were the otters - mine too.  They were super playful and swam around getting all the kids excited.  We even had to go back to check them out one more time.

Can you tell we're starting to lose them? :)

While we were looking at the seals and hanging out in a little amphitheater part, Ruby somehow snuck in to someone's stroller and stole a drink - walking away drinking it.  We snagged it from her and apologized only to find Ross with the SAME cup in his hand at the next exhibit - he was trying to show Thomas the monkey on it - embarrassed apology number 2.  Haha.

We managed to have a ride on the carousel right before we left and the kids loves waving at us every time they went around.  Ruby was dying by the end since it was well in to her naptime by the time we left, and they both crashed on the ride home.  Ross put up his best fight - getting mad at Steve twice for trying to take his yogurt out of his hand while he was falling asleep, but finally gave in for the rest of the way home.  What a fun day!

Pregnant ladies chillin' while the kids take their ride.

That night Steve and I went to the last BYU game we'll be able to go to this season and had fun...until BYU broke our hearts the last half once again.  Those stinkers.  I still love the feeling of fall, crisp air, cinnamon roasted almonds, and the stadium.  It's very nostalgic.  I'm ready for BYU to win though...seriously! ;)

Ruby loves hats :)

And shoes - she wouldn't hold still for me of course ;)

Crazy hair Rubes - Steve loves her hair in her eyes - it drives me crazy!

Pumpkin Patching at Jaker's Pumpkin Patch

We had to do our traditional pumpkin patching.  Last year Ross about died and went to heaven riding the train they had at the pumpkin patch.  This year there were other treasures to try out.

"Punkins!" Ruby LOVES seeing pumpkins everywhere.

The only sort-of-not-really-decent-picture I could get of these two in front of pumpkins.  Also - I love overalls on little boys - ALWAYS

Big Foot!

Ruby, who's usually addicted to slides, wasn't so in to the slides they had at the patch, but Ross LOVED it.  He didn't want to stop.

Grandma Claudia came to have fun with us!

Slides are awesome :)

Corn kernels to land in - beautiful.

Ruby bracing herself ;)

We went for a tractor ride and then trekked out to find our perfect pumpkins.  Remember, Stephen is a picky pumpkin picker.  We had to go two thirds of the way to the end of the pumpkin patch before he was satisfied we had a good selection.  Ross first chose two little pumpkins and then finally chose a white one when we told him he needed a bigger one too.  Ruby was also happy with a little white one for her.

Tractor ride!

Ready to go!

I can't believe how big these two have gotten!

Look at what they looked like last year!

Ross was very diligent looking for his pumpkin.

He found his two little ones ;)

Ruby found some moldy ones too ;)

Ruby happy with his pick :)

Ruby looks way too grown up in this picture.

Seriously - WAY too big!

Got our pumpkins!

Hooray for pumpkin patching!

We got back with just a bit of daylight left to sneak a peek at the petting zoo animals.  There was a huge fat pig, llamas, sheep, and goats to see.  Ruby wanted to run around looking at them over and over.  All in all they loved it and it was another successful tradition.

Total sheep face :)
